Meet Our Bloggers

Hey! My name is Kimberly Davila, a first-year and the blogger behind The Extras. I was born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa in México, but was raised in East Los Angeles, CA. I plan to concentrate in Political Science and look to run for the U.S. Senate one day (Kim for Senator 20??)! When I’m not blogging for The Bruin Club, I am involved with MEChA de Brown as East Coast Chicano Student Forum Chair, Generation Citizen, Experience Brown, First-Gens@Brown, am a ADOCH Community Ambassador, a tutor with Breakthrough Providence, and new member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. When I’m free, I enjoy making playlists on Spotify, hanging out with my friends in Wayland, grabbing falafel at the Ivy Room, and when the weather is nice: hanging out on the Main Green. If you have any questions, feel free to reach me at kimberly_davila@brown.edu. I’m always happy to share my Brown experience with you all!

isabelaHi everyone! My name is Isabela Karibjanian and I’m a sophomore from South Florida currently planning on concentrating in International Relations. When not exploring Providence and blogging about my adventures for On the Brown Low, I can be found playing the flute in the Brown University Band—the world’s first ice skating band and the most fun scramble band in the Ivy League! I’m also involved with Brown Political Review’s Media Team, Brown Students for Hillary, and Brown Democrats, and I’m a host for Experience Brown. In my free time, you can find me eating a Blue Room muffin on the Main Green or walking around campus marveling at the changing seasons. If you have any questions about anything I do at Brown or want recommendations for things to do in Providence, feel free to email me at isabela_karibjanian@brown.edu.

unnamedHi everyone! My name’s Eimi Satoh and I’m the blogger behind Student Highlight! I’m a senior (yikes) from Harrington Park, NJ concentrating in Education Studies, but I haven’t  always been situated there. I actually moved to the United States in the 8th grade and have lived in 3 other countries: Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan. Outside of the blog, I play in a Chamber Music String Quintet, serve as a Meiklejohn First-Year Peer Advisor, and do research in the Education Studies department. You can reach me with any questions, comments, or suggestions you may have at eimi_satoh@brown.edu.

Hi! My name is Nitya Sudarshan, and I’m a sophomore at Brown. I am from Mumbai, India
and I will be your blogger for
From Albania to Zimbabwe to tell you what it’s like to be an international student at Brown. I am concentrating in Biology and English, and when I’m not catching up on sleep, I teach English to elementary school children in Providence. I also host prospective students who visit Brown through a program called ‘Experience Brown.’ Even though Brown is so far from home, I really love being here, and love talking about what Brown has given to me. Feel free to email me at nitya_sudarshan@brown.edu!

jee-won-dianeHello! My name is Jee Won Diane Kang and I’m a freshman at Brown planning on concentrating in English (Nonfiction track) and Public Policy, although that’s all very up in the air at this point. I write for A Fresh View. I’m from San Diego, CA, but I doubt you’ll find someone else who dislikes going to the beach as much as I do. Even though I don’t see a beach outing as an idea of a good time, I definitely love fresh seafood by the ocean and looking at the sunset. I’m a huge foodie and live for my meals; I particularly love Asian food, but I’m always open to try new things. I’m a decent cook and baker, and my idea of an ideal Saturday night is one in the kitchen, trying out new recipes. I’m so excited to be at Brown, and I’m looking forward to a great year here! You can reach me at jee_won_kang@brown.edu.

rachelHello, there! My name is Rachel Gross and I am a sophomore transfer student at Brown. I am concentrating in English Literature while also exploring the realms of gender and classical studies. When not working on a new post for Second Time Around, I can almost always be found in Starbucks drinking some sort of festive latte. Born and raised in south Florida, I am already finding myself living in sweaters and constantly talking myself out of getting another Uber ride to my dorm. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or comments at rachel_gross@brown.edu.

lauraHi there! My name is Laura Muñoz and I am the freshman blogger behind Students of Color Perspectives! I am a proud Cuban from Miami, which means whenever it is under 60 degrees out you should expect to hear me complaining about the weather. I am not yet sure of my concentration but I am currently considering double concentrating in History and Education Studies. Besides blogging for The Bruin Club, I am also a blogger for Fashion@Brown and I am on the e-board for LASO as a Freshman Representative. I’m also involved in Students for Hillary and First-Gens@Brown. I can usually be found watching The Office bloopers, jamming to Jon Bellion, and scrolling the Sephora website wishing I could purchase everything they sell. Please email me to talk about pretty much anything at laura_munoz@brown.edu!

unnamed-1.jpgHi! My name is Alejandra (Ali) Gatás Johnson. I am a sophomore studying International Relations. I am your blogger for the Dorms Declassified column. I am from beautiful Colorado and a triple citizen (born in Ecuador to an American mom and Venezuelan dad). When I am not writing for you wonderful people and going to class, I am tutoring the sweetest 13-year-old refugee in the Brown Refugee Youth Tutoring Enrichment (BRYTE) program. I am the VP of Logistics of Brown Lecture Board and the VP of Membership Programming of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. I am also the Social Media and Marketing Director for the Sustainable Food Initiative and a Meiklejohn Peer Advisor. I host for Excellence Brown. Finally, I volunteer for the Children’s Education Program at Crossroads (homeless and domestic violence shelter). I’m the biggest dog lover to not have a dog and a firm believer in pizza. If you have any questions or comments about these activities or anything at all, contact me at alejandra_gatas_johnson@brown.edu. I would love to talk to you.

Hi there! My name is Justin Ferenzi, and I write the column Wise Fools, which is all about sophomore life at Brown. I’m a second-year student studying Cognitive Neuroscience (and maybe Public Health, too!). In addition to school, I’m a member of the radio station WBRU, I write for the Brown Daily Herald, and I work for BUDS, the undergraduate food service work-study and the largest student employer at Brown. I’ve been pretty all over the board during my time here, switching between majors, getting on and off the premed train, and just generally changing my mind all the time. Feel free to reach out to me anytime with questions you might have about sophomore year or Brown in general!

unnamed-2.jpgHello! (it’s me) My name is Allison García and I’m a sophomore here at Brown. I’m planning to concentrate in Biology (I think…?)  and German Studies. I’m from Miami, Florida , so snow freaks me out and you can find me examining it from all angles and debating whether or not to touch it.  When I’m not adventuring around Providence and taking HQ (iPhone) pics for the Snapshots at Brown column, I can be found rummaging through antique stores, aggressively typing notes at the Rock, or painting Jackson Pollock style.  If you have any questions, or just need to reach me for any reason, my email is allison_garcia@brown.edu.

And, last but not least… meet the Blog’s Editor!

12622264_10207734467907013_5764950687326995390_o-1Hey everyone! My name is Brianna Lambert and I originally hail from Chicago. I’m a senior (oh gosh everything went by so quickly) concentrating in Health and Human Biology. I’ve been writing for the Bruin Club Blog since my freshman year, and this is my first year as editor! In addition to editing the Blog, I coordinate the Ask a Brown Student email program, which is another segment of the Bruin Club, and I’m a tour guide. I am also member of Connect for Health and a Meiklejohn Peer Advisor. I love baking, crocheting, and hanging with cats, and I have done all three at once (basically I’m a grandma in a college kid’s body).

Feel free to send me an email with any questions you might have or changes you want to see on the blog at brianna_lambert@brown.edu!
