Snapshots of Brown- Day at the Hay

Hello Bruin Club Blog readers! My name’s Allison García and I’m a second-year/second time Snapshots of Brown blogger. This is where you’ll find my (sometimes) sneaky and savagely HQ pics of Brown and the Providence area.

Here at Brown, we have three very special libraries (not the basic Rock or SciLi #sorrynotsorry) : the John Carter Brown, AnnMary Brown Memorial , and the John Hay.

I spent my slow Monday afternoon at the Hay, despite having a midterm essay due tomorrow (yikes!). I mean,I could techinically have studied, but there is so much there to explore!! It’s part library, part museum! And where did I go?? To the third floor of course …
FOR THE LARGEST COLLECTION OF TOY SOLDIERS!!!! That’s right ! Brown is number one not only in being the coolest Ivy League school ever , but also for having the largest collection of stamps , toy soldiers and comics!

Here are some pictures of said collection:

Ready to battle midterms!!!
Just jammin’

So if you are ever in Providence and looking for something unique, stop by the Hay. It’s a special library for a reason!

Until next adventure,

-Allison García

P.S. If you know a cool place on campus that deserves the spotlight, or just want to talk about how amazing Brown is, send an email to!
