Interested in the latest trends on the Brown college campus? Curious as to how one keeps their outfits on fleek up in the temperamental Providence weather? Don’t understand fashion at all and want a place to start? Welcome to Brown Threads – the only place to get the inside scoop on fashion at Brown! My name is Abby Espiritu, and I’m here to help you learn all about all looking chic and fabulous on campus.

For anyone interested in more than just choosing classy outfits for each new school day, Brown has plenty of opportunities to get involved in the professional fashion world. By visiting and keeping up with Brown’s CareerLAB – the Center for Careers and Life After Brown – one can not only get help in finding various job positions and fashion internships, but also can hear from established figures in the fashion universe.

Last Thursday, March 10, as part of their annual “CareerCon” (short for “career convention” where students can interact with various Brown alumni and explore job opportunities and internships) CareerLAB hosted a special industry specific satellite program in Fashion. The event featured two Brown alums: Page Sargisson ’97 of Page Sargisson Jewelry and Tracy Dungo ’07 of Kalaki Riot, a lifestyle brand based in New York. Both alums held a panel discussion to talk about their work and answer questions, followed by a networking dessert reception.

On Wednesday, March 16, CareerLAB welcomed Brown alum Philippe Blondiaux P’19, the Global CFO of Chanel. The presentation, entitled “Chanel – Maintaining Brand Essence in a Fast-Changing Luxury World” covered the history of Chanel, luxury today, and what being a CFO in a luxury, private company means.
