Hungry As a Bear: Beautiful Breakfasts

Breakfast

Hi there Brunonians! My name is Michelle Zabat. I’m your friendly first-year foodie, originally from marvelous Michigan. If you’ve ever wondered what the dining scene is like at Brown University, look no further than Hungry As a Bear. I’m here to share the scoop on all things delicious both at Brown and around Providence. Dig in!

In my opinion, breakfast is arguably the best meal of the day. In fact, it’s usually what motivates me to get out of bed in the morning. There are so many options that there’s no way you can go wrong. Thankfully, Brown seems to share this view, and they have amazing breakfast offerings throughout the week.  See the delicious ways you can start your day here after the jump!

The Ratty: Ah, the good ol’ Ratty. My favorite thing about this dining hall is that there’s lots of options for everyone. The made-to-order omelette bar and yogurt/steel cut oatmeal bar are open every day in addition to the bread, English muffins, and bagels set up at the bread station and cereal. As for hot food, there are always eggs and some type of pancake (plain, pumpkin, apple, banana, chocolate chip, blueberry…). Personally, I think the breakfast potatoes, which change every day, are always delicious. Along with the variety of fruit, you really can’t go wrong. Plus on Sundays they have crepes.

The V-Dub: Unfortunately, as a Keeney resident, I’ve never made the trek up to the V-Dub for breakfast yet. However, I do know that they offer the standard fruit/cereal/bread that the Ratty offers in addition to other hot foods. Hopefully I’ll get up there soon!

The Blue Room: Arguably one of my favorite breakfast places on campus (but only on weekends since that’s when they take meal credits all day). Coffee, bagels, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, parfaits, muffins, and pastries adorn the glass cases, and most items are good if you’re on the go and need a quick snack before class.

Andrews Commons: On the weekends, AC has an amazing brunch special. You can get a bagel and a delicious quiche for a single meal swipe! If you’re hungry on a weekend morning, this is the place to go for you.

Hope you guys enjoyed a little peek into morning eats at Brown. Talk to you next week!
