Ever wonder what there is to do once you step off Brown’s campus? Curious about what Providence has to offer? On the Brown Low will be your faithful guide! Be sure to check in every week with us, Lily Hartmann and Brianna Lambert, to find out about the best spots around Providence and Rhode Island!
No matter where you are from, city, suburb, or small town, there are always those hidden gems that you find and call your “spot”. There are those local restaurants with what you swear are the best noodles ever and concert venues that always manage to bring your favorite artists. But if you are like us and new to Providence, you may need a little help finding your new go to spots. As we write On the Brown Low, we’ll share our journey with you to find the best kept secrets in Providence and Rhode Island.
Now to introduce ourselves!
I’m Brianna Lambert, a sophomore concentrating in…well I’m not so sure about that right now, but most likely something in the sciences. I call Chicago my hometown. You may remember me from last year as the writer for He, She, and Phe: Dorm Life at Brown. Hello again! If not, nice to meet you! Obviously, I’m super excited to be back again and can’t wait to get the blog started.
And I’m Lily Hartmann. Also a sophomore, planning on concentrating in Development Studies with a focus in Latin America, at least once I get around to declaring it. I hail from Old Lyme, Connecticut, just about an hour away from Brown University. In case you read the blog last year, I wrote The Extras column and I’m happy to be back for round two.
So what brings us together to write On the Brown Low? We met our freshman year while living in the same dorm (shout out to Miller). Amidst the chaos of our first two semesters, neither of us really got a chance to get off the hill and explore the city we now call home. Now that we’re seasoned pros at navigating Thayer street, we are willing to take the risk and expand outside the Brown bubble.
We’ll be pestering friends, searching the internet, and reaching out to locals and visiting the places they suggest each week. Just to give y’all different perspectives, we’ll switch off who writes each post. If we absolutely love what we’ve done, we might treat you to a co-authored post.
We can’t wait to see what comes out of our journeys!
See you next week!
Brianna and Lily
