Hello, Brown hopefuls! My name is Kimberly Truong and I am the awkward (but utterly thrilled) first-year behind A Fresh View. With that big question mark hovering over where you’ll be spending the next four years of your life, rest assured that this freshman will tell you her experience as she stumbles through the wonderful world of Brown.
One of the benefits of going to a school on College Hill is taking advantage of the collaboration between Brown and RISD, a fine arts and design institution down the hill from Brown. Brown students can visit the RISD museum for free and cross-register for courses at no extra tuition charge. There are very good classes offered by RISD every semester like VISA0100: Studio Foundation and Introduction to Photography. Since they are both popular though, everyone who is interested must enter the lottery to get a seat. But it’s worth a try, and I know some people who have produced wonderful pieces in VISA100!
This weekend, my friend invited me to go to the RISD museum with him. What follows are pictures of some museum art pieces that captivated me. You can get a taste of my interests from the collection and a sample of what the RISD museum has to offer. Hopefully, this will convince you to check out the RISD museum yourself!
Any questions or suggestions for my next post? Please send them my way at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’m happy to answer and heed to all of them!
