Dorm life: two words that inspire excitement and fear in the hearts of many incoming freshman. I’m Brianna Lambert, a first year student and the she behind He, She and Phe: Dorm Life at Brown. In this column I’ll share all of the good, bad, funny, and painfully awkward things that come along with living in a dorm.
This past Friday, freshman had the undeniable joy of pre-registering for the spring semester. Now, if you picked up on the sarcasm of that first sentence: 1. Good job. Detecting sarcasm through text is hard and 2. To explain, registering for classes is the bane of many students’ existence. Deciding what classes to take is extremely difficult and dealing with registering on Banner is even harder. What made it even worse than registering for the fall semester was the 8 A.M. start time.
My unit’s RPLs decided to hold a breakfast the morning of registration in our kitchen to ease all of our sleep deprived woes. There were donuts, juice, and my RPLs even made cinnamon rolls. Banner was, surprisingly, cooperative that day and registration went smoothly for everyone, myself included. It was also nice just to sit around and talk to various unit-mates and get advice from the RPLs about class choices and registering.
Oh, and in my sleepy state I forgot to take pictures, but enjoy the stock photo of cinnamon rolls above!
Until next week!
